Léonid FRECHKOP (Moscow, 1897 - Bruxelles, 1982) was a Russian-Belgian draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, theater decorator. Graduated from the Moscow Academy in 1920 and obtained the Prix de Rome, was a pupil of Constantin Korovin, A. Archipov and N. Kassatkine at the Academy of Fine Arts. He left his country for Paris, then moved to Brussels from 1922.
Realized compositions, figures, dancers, children and flowers. All his life he explored painting in all directions. He showed total independence from every style and trend. Revolutionary to the core of his heart, he nevertheless stuck to tradition. Evolved from the classicist. Manner to a romanticized style; also Post-Impressionist.
