Jeanne RONGIER (1852-1929) was a french painter of genre and portraits born in Macon in the 19th Century. She was a pupil of Harpignes, of Senart and Luminais. She is known for historic genre works after old masters such as Frans Hals and Jacob Duck.
She debuted at the Salon in 1869 and was a member of the society of French artists from 1883. Rongier received an honourable mention in 1884 and in 1900 at the Universal exposition and a third class medal in 1887. The museum at Clamecy and also at Rouen hold paintings by the artist.
