Georg Sturm (Austrian-Dutch, 1855-1923) was originally a Viennese painter and draughtsman. He designed and produced wall decorations for the interior and exterior of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and was the designer of the murals in the Statenzaal Zwolle.
T. van der Laars was the executive painter and Georg Sturm was the designer of the murals in the Statenzaal Assen. Florack was the executive painter.
Sturm mainly painted portraits, animal scenes, cityscapes and Christian religious scenes. He was educated at the Akademie für Angewandten Künste (Vienna), and was a member of the Arti et Amicitiae association (Arti, Amsterdam). Sturm was also a teacher at the National School for Applied Arts (Amsterdam).
