Antonio Cazorla González was born in Punta Umbria, Spain, in 1971. From an early age he showed an exceptional interest and aptitude for art. By the age of ten he had begun to master the techniques of oil painting and exhibited his work publicly for the first time aged eleven. In 1989, Cazorla began studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville. The experience of this city, a place rich in both art and history, was a decisive moment in his life and career. Cazorla’s exemplary record as a student earned him the Landscape Grant of El Paular (Madrid). He then went on to complete a doctorate course. During these years, Cazorla’s painting style developed considerably, evolving technically as well as becoming more mature. After finishing University, Cazorla spent nearly three years living in England. On his return to Spain, he received an award from The Academy of Sciences, Arts and Humanities in Huelva in recognition of his continued contribution to the arts. In his paintings, Cazorla utilises colour, tonality and form in order to reflect the calmness and sensitivity of his subjects. The aroma of fruits can be perceived, Cazorla’s dune scenes communicate nostalgic memories of the Spanish coastline where he grew up and his figurative paintings expertly capture the beauty and sensuality of the female form.
Antonio Cazorla has participated in more than seventy group and solo exhibitions throughout Spain, Portugal, Belgium and London. His works are in private and public collections worldwide. This exhibition is Cazorla’s third solo London show. His two previous exhibitions at the Albemarle Gallery in 2004 and 2006 have been hugely successful, selling out on both occasions.
