Con lo sguardo incantato
e le ciglia incollate alle palpebre
gioco con l'infinito in un angolo
faccio un viaggio nelle risonanze
Buwa Shete, born in 1960 in Maharashtra, India, is one of the shining new stars on the Indian contemporary art scene. He graduated in Applied Arts from Abhinav Kala, Pune, in 1983. After graduating, he worked with advertising agencies as a creative director and illustrator for several years, while painting simultaneously. His first recognition came when he won an award at the National Exhibition of Young Painters in Calcutta, organized by M. F. Hussain. His paintings for a calendar on "Philosophy by Various Saints" won the London Advertising Award in 1997. Buwa's paintings are in the collections of Theramax, Swastik Batteries, IKEA, ICIL, as well as in private collections in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and New York. The female protagonist is at the focus of most of his canvases. His contemporary modernist figures are done in rough strong brush strokes. Buwa is unafraid of size, & flirts outrageously with color. Strong reds and blues are often seen in his work.
e le ciglia incollate alle palpebre
gioco con l'infinito in un angolo
faccio un viaggio nelle risonanze
tento di distrarmi
e mi proietto lì
con tutti i sentimenti
libero la mente
m'accompagno...
e lascio qui in bonaccia
solo i tessuti della pelle
in bilico...
sfido il precario equilibrio
mi abituo pian piano alla mia assenza
alla mia leggerezza dell'essere
e aspetto la pace
la pace del corpo
l'esatta confidenza con il peso
reclamo la trasparenza
annullo le distanze
e finalmente
quando è comodo il mio pensiero
suono...
suono il flauto dell'anima
