Antoine's work explores the complex and intense human emotions, which are typically associated with human intimacy. Her dramatic use of light and shadow accentuates the human form and generates a feeling of elegance, poise and balance. Antoine de Villiers' smooth and highly polished application of oil paint in deep almost monochromatic colour can't help but generate a fundamental feeling of graceful sensuality.

"In my work I seek to complement the moments I encounter. I attempt breaking down life to its visual essentials - light, dark, balance, movement, and tone - and in so doing, perhaps show another perspective. I enjoy capturing the essence of a moment, also "story" by diversity of colour and pattern that the eye or camera is unable to see. If somebody, while looking at my artwork, gets that special feeling of something personal, I'm satisfied. I consider a painting complete when the emotion or feeling I am trying to express match the thoughts in my mind".

Antoine De Villiers' (Antoinette Louw) was born in South African in 1977 and now lives and works in America. She has successfully exhibited throughout South Africa, America, and Britain in both group and solo exhibitions and has work held in numerous private collections throughout the world.
