"Salvatore Rizzuti is a full professor of Sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy in Palermo"
Salvatore Rizzuti was born in 1949 in Caltabellotta (AG), a suggestive little village in Agrigento countryside, marked by a savage landscape with wide valleys,at the end of which it's possible to see, like a mirage, the sea.
He spent his childhood in touch with the nature, learning the archetypal values from the agro-pastoral ambient which surrounds him, creating in his own world, characterized by the fantasy and the loneliness of a little shepherd-boy, a new world of imaginary characters and toys carved in wood and stone with his hands.
In 1967, when he decided to leave Caltabellotta to Palermo to complete the fine arts studies, starts the real elaboration of his past nearly mythical.
The acquisition of sculpture techniques and the deep study of history's arts lead him to the discovery and the creation of an expressive language, direct and imaginary, inspired by the Greek mythology, which, during the years, leads him to spread his individuality, formed by loneliness and characterized by the activity and the love for "the making".
The same values, obtained during the first part of his life, are those that he transfers, with his technical competency, to his students at the Fine Arts Academy of Palermo.
He tries to lead them through a cultural experience, and mostly human, aimed at the recovery of the meaning of human beings in a precise context.
